Prof. Mariette Awad is the Director of the AI, Data Science and Computing Hub at AUB and a tenured associate professor in ECE. Ranked among the top 2% of influential scholars globally (Stanford, 2022–2023), she received the 2024 Abdul Hameed Shoman Award and the Intissar Ahdab Award for Women’s Excellence.

A Lead Certified Assessor in ethical AI, she contributed to the Munich Convention on AI and completed the 2024 CAIDP AI Policy Clinic. Awad has published 130+ manuscripts and secured $4.4M in funding from META, NIH, and Qatar Foundation. Her best-seller Efficient Learning Machines was a top download by Springer Nature and ranked #1 by BookAuthority.

She co-organizes the AUB Women in Data Science Conference and promotes women in STEM. She consults for UNESCO, UNICEF, and ESCWA, and co-founded HolexP, a platform that won the MIT Pan Arab Innovation Award and Chiney Hostler Award in 2022.
